Mark Your Calendars: Freshwave Festival Returns to Kastel from August 6 to 8

BANJA LUKA – The beginning of August in Banja Luka has long been reserved for one of the region’s most recognizable music events – Freshwave Festival, which will take place this year from August 6 to 8 at the Kastel Fortress.

The organizers announce that the 2026 edition brings a conceptual step forward, with a focus on connecting different music genres and scenes, further strengthening Freshwave’s position on the regional festival map.

This year’s festival slogan, “Enter the Nexus,” symbolically represents the idea of meeting and connection – between artists and audiences, as well as across diverse genres and creative energies.

“Nexus is a point of connection, a place where music, people, and ideas meet. That is exactly what we want to offer the audience this year: a unique experience where boundaries between scenes dissolve and a new kind of festival energy is created,” the organizers state.

Over the course of three festival nights, Kastel Fortress will transform into a hub of contemporary music culture, where sounds find a shared rhythm and the audience collectively creates the energy that defines the festival.

In this way, Freshwave becomes the Nexus of the summer – a space for connection, interaction, and a shared musical experience.

Year after year, the festival attracts a growing number of visitors from the country, the region, and abroad, significantly contributing to Banja Luka’s tourism and cultural offer.

Freshwave Festival has been held since 2012 and has hosted numerous renowned international and regional artists, confirming its status as one of the most important events of its kind in Southeast Europe.

The organizers invite all music lovers to mark their calendars now – August 6, 7, and 8 – when Kastel will once again become the epicenter of festival happenings.
