  • On June 7th and 8th, Banjaluka will host a two day musical programe named “Sound Embassy Rooftop” which unites educational DJ workshops, panel discussions and a musical programe in the evening, featuring top notch performers. The event is being held on the roof of Dom Omladine, and in the Kuca Milanovica.

    The programe will start on friday, June 7th, on the roof of Dom Omladine, where free educational workshops, dedicated to contemporary electronic music will be held. The workshops are imagined as an introduction to DJ-ing and music production, with the goal of allowing young enthusiasts to get more familiarized with the creative process of producing electronic sound.

    The lecturers, DJs and producers DJ Jock, Vladimir Acic and Vuk Vukosavljevic, who will preset the participants with concrete tools and methods of work, as well as their own practical experience. The start time of the workshops is 6pm, and all who are interested can apply through Freshwave’s instagram page. Each participant of this one day workshop will be granted free entry to the party that is to follow.

    The same day, from 8pm on, the programe continues on the roof of Dom Omladine, where the Sound Embassy Rooftop party is being held. The main performer of the night is Jay Lumen, a DJ\ producer, famous for his techno, tech house and house music. He will be joined by DJ Jock, Vuk Vukosavljevic and Machado.

    The organisers are highlighting the fact that the ambiance of the rooftop of Dom Omladine  offers a fantastic view, open space and an atmosphere that is different to other club spaces. The party will go on until 3am.

    Tickets to the party are available at a price of 15KM, at Hogwarts pub in the city center (Ban Milosavljevic street no 12)

    On saturday, june 8th, beginning at noon at Kuca Milanovica, panel discussions will be held. The topics discussed will be contemporary festival production, the relationship of media and the music scene, and also what cultural events like this one mean for city development.

    The festival organiser, journalists, artists and members of the local community are all participating in the panels. Some of the confirmed participants are Strahinja Grahovac (Freshwave festival), Adnan Comor (Garden of Dreans), Goran Krivic (Sha fest), Vladimir Acic (Green Love festival), DJ Jock, Vuk Vukosavljevic, Haris Suljovic (Muzicka zona), Bojan Sandic (ATV), Dragan Malic (Nes radio\ Nezavisne novine) and Branislav Predojevic (Glas Srpske).

    The panels will be dealing with themes such as the organisation of music festivals, tha narrative of media as it pertains to the music scene and the role of festivals in the image of cities like Banjaluka, Novi Sad and Sarajevo. Everyone who is interested is welcome, and entry to all of the panels is free.

    The two day programe of “Sound Embassy Rooftop” is being organised as part of the “Kultura I kreativnost za Zapadni Balkan” (CC4WBs), financed by the European Union, the focus of which is encouraging dialogue in the western balkans, through advancing the cultural and the creative sectors. During its 48 months, this project has a goal of advancing the socio/economic effects of culture, through the development of skills, knowledge and acces to financial aids, strenghtening the position and the circulation of cultural assets and services of the region.
